Route 66 in Oklahoma: Mile 47

EDITOR’S NOTE: Apologies for the long hiatus. This has been the strangest year of my entire life, bar none, and I’m only just now settling back into some kind of routine after a series of increasingly weird disruptions. Things are still weird, but I think we’re looking at a more or less predictable sort of weirdness for at least a few months, so I should be able to get back on track with this project….

When the odometer hands you a barbed-wire fence, sometimes the only thing you can do is take a tight shot of a barb.

The Texas Old Route 66 Association shares a newsletter — and a roof — with the Barbed Wire Museum in McLean, Texas. Both museums are worth a visit if you’re ever out that direction. Be sure to take along money for souvenirs, because the gift shop is a hoot.
