Route 66 in Oklahoma: Mile 37

ok6637.jpg

One thing I like about this project is the way the random nature of each stop forces me to exercise a little creativity. When I find myself surrounded by nothing but trees and grass, I have to quiet down and let the camera find what it will. Here, a dry weed and the reflection of the sunlight on the asphalt surface of 66 drew the Rebel’s attention. In retrospect, I wish I’d thought to get out my Holga — which I keep in a bag in the car — and try this same shot with a little distortion and vignetting.
