Route 66 in Oklahoma: Mile 36

ok6636.jpg

This gnarled tree has several broken branches and appears to have been a victim of last December’s ice storms, which coated most of eastern Oklahoma in a thick layer of ice and left much of the region without power for more than a week. In January, the Oklahoma Route 66 Association participated in two projects to help clear some of the debris from historic sites connected to the road.

Note the bird taking off from the wire in the upper left part of the picture.
